Biography
Kristi Shaw is an inspired and influential facilitator, with the ability to bring diverse people and groups together for collaborative, strategic, and cohesive action. Her mission is in creating meaningful connection for resourcing and empowering wellbeing, to move from struggling survival to thriving lives as an individual, a community, or an organization.
Kristi’s Masters research project, creating a social approach to anxiety using appreciative inquiry, has received accolades, won a Bold Innovators Scholarship, and has been published in the Unitec E-Press. Kristi is a Narrative Therapist, Appreciative Inquiry Facilitator, and Reiki Master, working for personal, social, and organizational change.
Kristi is using appreciative inquiry with parents, who are caring for their child with anxiety disorder, in therapeutic group work that creates connection, community support, and inspired action to generate a positive and sustainable difference in their and their family’s lives.
Kristi is also using appreciative inquiry as the Auckland Regional Coordinator for the NZ Disability Support Network. After some daring conversations in one of our regional network meetings, we established an Engagement and Partnership Core Group that went on to co-create an Accessibility: Beyond Intention Summit with a variety of stakeholders present: Disabled People, Whanau/Family, Disability Providers, Representatives from Auckland Council, Ministry of Disabled People, Ministry of Social Development, Waitemata DHB, and the Auckland Disability Advisory Panel. Our collective call to action was to have an online centralized hub of resources and information that everyone knew about and utilized. From this, we manifested the National NZDSN Hui (meeting): Online Centralized Hubs for all members from across the country to learn, engage, and utilize the current hubs that are available. Information from this Hui will be utilized for further calls to action as we lean into the changes of living Enabling Good Lives in our communities. Appreciative Inquiry continues to connect and inspire for generative future-focused cohesive action that people are proud to be part of and contribute to.
