Biography
My initial exposure to AI came through my experience and training in Synectics. While I am not clear about the exact relationship, I believe this structure is born from, or is closely related to AI. It is a methodology of drawing creative and imaginative solutions from a group of people focused on a specific challenge or opportunity. I have gone through Facilitator training and certification and have been using it for about 2 years. This additional training in Appreciative Inquiry has expanded my capacity to help groups of people to define their story and translate that story into their built environment.
As an architect, I increasingly serve people working in complex organizations facing rapid change. My work is to seek out and honor the inherent and latent capacity that is contained within a diverse group of people gathered around a noble purpose. This capacity is held within seeds of insight, wisdom, intelligence and tensions, hidden in the ideas, dreams, imaginings and cherished beliefs of these people. Together these diverse seeds contain the complete genetic code for what might be. Appreciative inquiry is proving to be a powerful tool to help draw out their story, the meaning of their work.
My goal is to deepen my understanding and capacity to enter into Appreciative Inquiry, and to apply in both in my profession vocation and my work in other communities and not-for-profit entities.
